This is Minderbinder's. Built in 1971 it was one of the most popular bars in the Tempe area during the 70s when the drinking age was 19. It drew huge crowds with lines out the front and rear doors on weekends. The building was said to be a prefab church shipped in and then assembled on site and was decorated with items from a Hollywood movie prop warehouse including several stuffed full sized horses hung from the ceiling as well as a scale model of a US Navy destroyer said to have been used in the film 'Run Silent, Run Deep' was suspended over thee bar next to the kitchen. During the 'Ban the Bra' carryover from the 1960s they ran promotions trading pitchers for bras which also hung from the ceiling. Von Dutch was a regular in it's early years when he had a shop in Tempe and many of his Flying Eyeball drawings were to be found sword fighting around the pillars.
